CLEANROOM IN GDYNIA, POLAND

ISO 7 certification (ISO 14644-1)
Cleanroom available for rent – both with the support of qualified staff and for independent use in accordance with guidelines

CLEANROOM GDYNIA – AVAILABLE FOR RENT

The clean room launched by WiRan is a laboratory with a total area of 30 sqm, complying with the ISO 7 cleanliness standard (ISO Standard 14644-1) for use including assembly and testing of space and consumer electronics, as well as for research, diagnostic purposes, etc. The WiRan CleanRoom complex consists of two parts – a cleanroom itself with an area of 26.2 sqm, and a locker room – a sluice room with an area of 3 sqm. The ISO 7 standard means that the cleanroom contains no more than 10,000 dust particles per cubic foot (total particles per ft3).

CLEAN ROOM STANDARDS

Before starting work, each engineer is required to put on special ESD protective clothing in a locker-room – a sluice room divided into a “dirty” section, which they enter in normal clothes, and a “clean” section, which they are allowed to enter only in complete protective clothing, thus minimizing the risk of introducing contamination into the clean room.

CLEANROOM EQUIPMENT – GDYNIA

The cleanliness of the cleanroom is constantly monitored by the MET ONE HHPC 6+ measuring device, thanks to which our engineers are able to quickly and accurately determine the level of cleanliness in the room. Climatic conditions, meanwhile, are monitored by the SEZO AL device. A special soldering station with a double fume extractor allows soldering with fast fume extraction, preventing air pollution. A professional laboratory microscope allows engineers to inspect assembled equipment accurately and thoroughly, while a vacuum packer allows airtight packaging of components or finished product so that it remains in perfect cleanliness from the moment it leaves the room until it reaches the customer’s hands.

SUITABLE ENVIRONMENT

Adequate humidity in a clean room

In addition to proper cleanliness, maintaining adequate humidity is critical. In WiRan CleanRoom, its level must be constantly maintained in the range of 40-60% for enhanced protection against electrostatic discharges – ESD. Since they are a particularly undesirable phenomenon when working with electronic equipment, humidity is constantly maintained within appropriate limits thanks to the operation of two humidifiers placed near each workstation.

Adequate humidity in a clean room
It is in the WiRan CleanRoom that our space components are assembled, which are popular with a growing number of customers from around the world – assembling our antennas, dividers and diplexers in ISO 7-compliant clean conditions allows us to create a quality product for both space and ground applications.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between this room and other clean rooms?

The room has a unique climate infrastructure that allows the complex to maintain its air by using highly efficient filters in the ducts that bring air into the clean room, and by maintaining constant air circulation (positive pressure), which allows new contaminants created by the engineers’ work to be blown out on an ongoing basis. In addition, engineers working in the clean room are required to follow certain rules aimed at minimizing the introduction of contaminants into the room when entering and exiting it, as well as during the normal course of work.

What is the principle behind the operation and purification of this room?
Rooms classified as cleanrooms are purified by continuous intensive circulation of air, which is forced into the room through a special HEPA filter system and taken outside the building so that the pollutants created inside do not return inside. > Airflow distributions for different types of clean rooms (Wikipedia)
What is ISO 7 and where is it used?

ISO 7 is the class number of ISO 14644-1 – Cleanrooms and related controlled environments. It defines concentration limits for particle sizes of 0.5 µm, 1 µm and 5 µm per cubic meter. Rooms meeting the standard in this class are used in the production of medical devices, electronics and aerospace industries, in the manufacture of drugs and cosmetics, and in laboratories.

How does the MET ONE HHPC 6+ measuring device work?

The MET ONE HHPC 6+ particle counter is a handheld portable device that counts particles using an optical method – the device draws air into its interior, where it is irradiated by a high-intensity light source – a laser. Particles suspended in the air sample block and scatter part of the laser beam hitting the detector, so the number of particles can be estimated with high accuracy.

How does the SEZO AL measuring device work?
SEZO AL is a multifunctional device for measuring the most important air parameters – temperature, humidity, pressure, air quality (IAQ – Indoor Air Quality), as well as for measuring noise and light intensity. SEZO AL is also equipped with a particle counter that operates on the same principle as that of the MET ONE HHPC 6+, but with less accuracy. In our CleanRoom, however, the SEZO AL is used primarily to measure humidity and temperature.
How big items can be packed in your vacuum packer?

Our vacuum packer uses a standard vacuum sleeve with a width of 30 cm, so the items we pack must fit in it.

Why does the adequate humidity protect against electrostatic discharge?

Electrostatic discharge occurs when a sufficiently large charge accumulates on one surface, which then jumps to another, inversely charged surface that approaches it at a sufficiently small distance. Humidity in the air helps offset this phenomenon by, somewhat paradoxically, facilitating the flow of current through the air. Dry air resists electrical charge, so that charges accumulate on surfaces instead of jumping in small, safe portions with low voltage. Water, on the other hand, conducts electricity well, and its presence in the air reduces its resistance to electrical charges, so that they are more easily exchanged between surfaces and large amounts do not accumulate, which could result in a potentially dangerous ESD discharge for electronics.
